BARAMULLA: Youth Services and Sports Department of Baramulla inaugurated a week-long series of inter-zonal district level competitions, including Kho-Kho, Volleyball, and Kabaddi, for under-14 and under-17 boys and girls.
Additionally, the department organized the inter-school district Subroto Mukherjee Football competition for both boys and girls under-15 and under-17. The competitions are being held at Showkat Ali Stadium, Baramulla.
In a landmark event, the under-14 boys’ competitions were held first and inaugurated by the Principal of GDC Boys Baramulla, along with Nazir Ahmad Bhat, DYSSO Baramulla. Both dignitaries officially launched the competitions. The event saw an overwhelming participation of nearly 600 students from 18 zones across the district.
Nazir Ahmad Bhat remarked, “These competitions are a vital platform for nurturing young talent and promoting sportsmanship among our youth. We are thrilled to witness such enthusiastic participation and are committed to providing more opportunities for our young athletes to shine.” Sports play a crucial role in holistic development, and we are dedicated to fostering a robust sports culture in Baramulla, he added.
The week-long competitions aim to identify and nurture young sports talent, encouraging them to pursue excellence in sports and potentially represent the district at higher levels.
