KUPWARA: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, today on 2nd and concluding day of My Town My Pride programme, inspected various development works in Kupwara town.
He inspected marriage hall at Geerhati Zangli, coming up at a cost of Rs.220.92 lakh. He was informed that the marriage hall comprises of 1 hall, 4 rooms, 2 toilets and compound and parking facilities. He appreciated the efforts of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and Chairman Municipal Council for identifying the picturesque place for the marriage hall.
The marriage hall is situated on the banks of Nallah Lolab in the lap of lush green forests.
Chairman MC Kupwara, Riyaz Ahmad Mir; ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, EO MCK and DIO Kupwara accompanied the Principal Secretary.
Principal Secretary also presided over the valedictory function at Town Hall Kupwara during which he distributed awards of appreciation among the officers of district administration, functionaries of the Municipal Council Kupwara and media persons for successful conduct of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.
Addressing on the occasion, Principal Secretary said that Kupwara town is fastly emerging as a hub of trade and business and people in the rural areas connecting Kupwara town have expectations on the Town Kupwara. He said development of Kupwara and other towns of the district is top most priority of the government and various developmental initiatives are under progress and some new plans are in the pipeline for development of Kupwara district.
He mentioned the name of various projects including Four Lane road, Medical College, University campus, Polytechnic college and ITIs. He said that employment generation is paramount concern for the government which is being addressed by way of different self employments generation schemes like PMEGP and Mission Youth. He said that youth is the top most priority of the government adding that the he has to be shown the right direction to harness their hidden potential and talent. He said 80000 unemployed educated youth including 8000 from Kupwara district are being trained under different skills with financial assistance for setting up of their self employment units.
Principal Secretary said that government jobs are being created through a proper recruitment process. He appealed youth to come forward and take benefit under different self employment schemes which is the only way to overcome the problem of unemployment.
Dr. Samoon said that Kupwara district has a vast potential for generation of employment avenues in different fields including Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing, Walnut processing, Diary and Tourism sectors.
He said various developmental initiatives have been taken up recently by the district administration including construction of river fronts along with public parks for tourist attraction.
