BANDIPORA: As part of Wullar Festival-2022, Birding event is being organised by Wular Conservation and Management Authority at Zurimanz area from 27-29th August 2022.
Today, on the first day of the event, school children were taken for Birding. The children were given insights into the use of Birding equipment and bird guides.
Also the gathering was briefed about the importance of the lake; the Ramsar convention and the Ecosystem services which the lake provides.
The students had an eventful day and birds such as Herons; Grebes; Egrets; Terns; Moorhens and multiple species of kingfishers were sighted during the trail.
Coordinator WUCMA, Mudasir Ahmad informed that the event will be open for all till 29th and anybody interested will be taken on guided Birding tour in the lake.
The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed said that the Wular festival and other associated activities are being held to promote Wular as one of the prime tourist spots in the district.
He said promotion of Wular as a tourist destination shall also provide more employment opportunities to the youth of the district.
