SRINAGAR: The Red Ribbon Club of Sri Pratap College today conducted a Poster-making competition to commemorate the World AIDS Day under the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’.
This year World AIDS Day is more than a celebration of the achievement of communities; it is a call to action to enable and support communities in their leadership roles. It is to highlight the full potential of communities in all their HIV plans and programmes and their preparedness, monitoring, awareness and budgeting.
The emphasis is to remove all the obstacles so that community-led organisations can add even greater thrust to global HIV response, improving progress towards the end of AIDS.
The event was held in the Department of Zoology. The students enthusiastically showcased their full potential and creativity in making posters pertaining to the theme.
Speaking on the occasion, principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi emphasized the active role of the college volunteers in spreading the awareness regarding the anti-AIDS campaign.
The Convenor RRC, Prof. Nuzhat Rehman presided over the event. The members of the Red Ribbon Club, Dr. Mehraj uddin, Dr. Javaid Hassan Sheikh, Prof. Javeria Khurshid and Dr. Qazi Ashiq Hussain actively coordinated the event. To encourage participating students, e-certificates were also distributed amongst them.
