SRINAGAR: To understand the significance of voting and empowering individuals to actively shape the future they desire, the Kashmir University (KU) Wednesday, hosted a daylong awareness programme here.
Titled, ‘Voting Towards Progress: Voters as Architects for a Bright Future’ under the banner ‘Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure’, the programme witnessed talks and deliberations highlighting the significance of electoral process in shaping the future of a nation, an official statement issued here read.
In her message, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofer Khan, said that peoples’ collective actions at the ballot box pave the path towards progress, unity and inclusive governance.
“Voting is not merely a right but a sacred duty of every citizen, empowering individuals to actively shape the future they desire,” Prof Khan said while urging masses to harness the power of their voices “to steer the society towards prosperity and justice”.
While emphasising the paramount importance of each vote, KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, said: “Every vote matters, it is the cornerstone of all democracies and a powerful tool for change.”

The varsity’s Department of Students Welfare and Educational Multimedia Research Centre made all the necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event, the statement added.
