‘Vigilance Awareness Week’: KU’S North Campus organises activities to advocate ‘corruption-free society’

SRINAGAR: To spread awareness and advocate a just, fair and corruption-free society, the University of Kashmir’s North Campus, organised various activities as part of the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week 2024’,

The event was organised by the campus’ NSS Wing in collaboration with the District Administration, Baramulla.

On the occasion, Director, North Campus, Dr Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, highlighted the need for a collective resolve against the menace of corruption. He administered the “Integrity Pledge” aimed at encouraging a commitment to corruption-free practices within the society in general and educational institutions in particular.

“We need to understand the significance of integrity and ethical conduct and adopt healthy practices to eradicate corruption from all levels of society,” he emphasised.

He deliberated on a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms in place to protect and promote transparency in public affairs.

NSS Programme Officer, Bilal Ahmad Kaloo, provided a brief introduction about the essence of vigilance awareness week and the significance of promoting corruption-free practices in institutions.

The day was marked by a walkathon involving NSS volunteers, students and faculty members from different departments of the campus, who carried placards displaying anti-corruption slogans symbolising their commitment to the cause.

“This visual display of unity against corruption reinforced the message that the fight against corruption is a collective effort,” a spokesperson said in a statement, adding that the NSS volunteers pledged to employ fair practices to adhere to principles of integrity and transparency to envision a corruption-free society.

The event also witnessed a painting competition attracting students from different departments to express their creative potential in the form thematic paintings to curb corruption.

Three paintings were nominated for first three positions with each participant receiving a memento and a certificate.
