JAMMU: As part of the ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a special IEC Van reached Panchayat Nathal of Block Kharah Balli today amid a warm welcome by the locals and the PRI members.
The van, which is equipped with a LED screen and a sound system, displayed the video message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he has urged the people to take a pledge to work for the progress and prosperity of the country. The people present at the event took the Sankalp pledge and expressed their commitment to the cause.
The event was also marked by a Nukkad Natak performed by a group of young artists, spreading a positive message among the masses against drug abuse and social evils. The Nukkad Natak was followed by various cultural performances by the students of the local schools, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm.
During the event, a health camp was also organised by the health department, where free screening for non-communicable diseases was done. Besides, the prizes were distributed among the participants along with T-shirts and caps. The audience appreciated the efforts of the artists and the organisers and encouraged them with applause.
Representatives of the line departments, while interacting with the chief guest and the public, presented their stalls and explained the various schemes and programmes run by the government for the public welfare. They also distributed pamphlets, calendars and brochures to the people and answered their queries.
At the event, the public availed free health care services under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which provides health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year. The beneficiaries of different schemes narrated the benefits availed from respective schemes under ‘Meri Kahaani Meri Zubaani’.
