JAMMU: Under the Tax awareness Initiative “KAR-TAVYA,” a team of State Taxes Department, on the eve of Mother’s Day, conducted market inspection in Jammu City to check billing of sold Goods by business establishments.
The team, under the Chairpersonship of Dr. Rashmi Singh, Commissioner State Taxes, Namrita Dogra, Additional Commissioner State Taxes (Adm & Enforcement) Jammu, Ritu Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner State Taxes (Enforcement-Central) Jammu along with Manpreet Kour, Assistant Commissioner and State Taxes Officers, Romi Jamwal, Nitin Verma and Chandermohini visited different business premises of Jammu city to ascertain whether goods sold were properly billed or not.
Awareness was generated among the shopkeepers and customers to follow the proper billing system. An appeal was made to the general public to be vigilant customers so that tax evasion can be curbed.
Queries of the shopkeepers regarding tax regime (GST) were also carefully listened to and responded to. Moreover, gifts were also distributed among the customers who were taking goods with proper bills.
Mother’s Day was specifically chosen for awareness as there is a saying “if we educate Mother, we educate the whole family”.
Besides, shopkeepers were also informed that in case of any confusion regarding the GST regime, the State Taxes department has opened “Suvida Kendra” for solving any queries which is located on the 4th floor of the State Taxes Department at Panama Chowk, Jammu.
The main objective of the tax awareness initiative “KAR-TAVYA” is to infuse the message among all the taxpayers that it is the tax revenue which leads to the development of the Nation.
