SRINAGAR: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the District Administration, Srinagar in collaboration with the Chief Education Office Srinagar organized series of awareness programmes/rallies in various Educational Institutions of Srinagar District under Nasha Mukt Bharat in order to create awareness among people about the harmful effects of drug menace and its trafficking.
The participants through skits, nukkad nataks and other cultural programmes to educate the young generation about the harmful and deadly effects of the drugs. The participants displayed placards and raised slogans about the harmful effects of the drugs. They also raised awareness about ill effects of tobacco products and mobilized public opinion to set up tobacco free zones at public places in different parts of the Srinagar City.
Similarly, the students registered with ECO clubs in various schools of the District also generated awareness about Environmental protection and cleanliness under Mission Life initiative.
The Locals also appreciated the people-friendly initiatives and efforts of the District Administration Srinagar or raising awareness among Youth about the Drug Menace.
Speaking about the programme, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad said that the programmes were held with an aim to create a drug-free environment in the District and save the younger generation from the ill effects of the drugs. He reiterated that the District Administration Srinagar is committed to create a drug-free environment in the District and will continue to take all necessary steps to achieve this goal.
Pertinent to mention that the District Administration, Srinagar in collaboration with the Chief Education Office Srinagar has formulated a weeklong calendar during which awareness rallies will be conducted in as many as 106 Educational Institutions of Eight Education Zones across the District.
