SRINAGAR: The Red Ribbon Club of Sri Pratap College, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society today organised a daylong programme to celebrate ‘International Youth Day’.
The programme started with college tarana followed by a welcome address by the Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad Khan.
The principal encouraged students to acquire multidisciplinary knowledge, as is also required under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, to become fully equipped to tackle the challenges of life.
On the occasion all the participants took a pledge to make the society drug abuse free.
Prof. Syed Gulzar Ahmad (convener Red Ribbon Club S. P College Sgr) gave a comprehensive introduction to the origin, history and relevance of the International Youth Day.
Lectures on different themes were delivered by Sanjeeve Rana (Additional Secretary, J & K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages); Dr. Tabassum Jabeen (Deputy Director, JKACS); Dr. Javaid Ahmad Dar (Sr. Assistant Professor Political Science, University of Kashmir, Srinagar); Dr. Nisar Ahmad Wani (Associate Professor Psychology, Higher Education Dept J&K); Prof. Javaria Khurshid (Assistant Prof. English, S. P. College Sgr); Dr. Suhail Ahmad (Dept of Physics, S. P. College, Sgr); Seeman Fatima (Student) and Hareem Farooq (student).
Sanjeev Rana gave highlights of the NRP- 2020 and explained how it has expanded the horizon of higher education by including skill oriented and vocational courses and by providing multiple entry and exits.
Dr. Tabassum Jabeen, emphasized that it is essential to accomplish the full potential of our youth for attaining sustainable development goals.
She appreciated the Red Ribbon Club of S. P. College, Srinagar for being active and organising a series of programmes to celebrate the International Youth Day.
On the occasion the winners of different competitions and members of Red Ribbon Club were felicitated by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir (Dean Academics S. P. College Sgr) and Dr. Jan Shabir Ahmad (HoD Physics, S. P. College Sgr).
