SRINAGAR: Security bunkers have been a prominent feature of the landscape in Srinagar for many years now. These bunkers were constructed with the aim of providing a secure space for government officials, politicians and security personnel during times of unrest and conflict. However, with changing times and advancement in technology, there is now a growing need to transform these bunkers into ‘smart bunkers’ for enhanced security and safety.

Older, conventional bunkers will be replaced with the new ones, many of which will be renovated. An official claimed that the smart bunkers have been constructed at a cost of Rs 44.44 lakh.
It is expected that the administration will have a long-term plan for the use and maintenance of ‘smart bunkers’ to ensure their durability, functionality, and effectiveness. The plan may involve regular maintenance and inspection of the bunkers, training of the personnel to use and operate them effectively, and updating the technology and features as needed. Additionally, the government may also focus on creating awareness among the citizens about the importance and benefits of these bunkers in times of crises.
