Sheep Husbandry department organises awareness camp at Sumbal

BANDIPORA: Sheep Husbandry Department Hajin  on Thursday organized an awareness camp regarding  sheep rearing and other related activities at  Dak Banglow Sumbal.

The awareness camp was presided over by SDM Sumbal Bashir Ahmad Lone.

Sheep and Wool Development Officer Hajin, field staff of Sheep Department and other concerned were also present on the occasion besides large gathering of local people and breeders of the Sumbal town and adjoining areas.

Dr Nuzhat Wali said that the aim of the programme was to help breeders to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices in the Sheep husbandry sector.

She briefed the general public about the importance of sheep rearing, their management and disease control.

SDM Sumbal Bashir Ahmad lone  laid emphasis on greater participation and involvement of people in the sheep husbandry sector. 

He informed that the local area is ideally suited for sheep rearing and urged the youth to come forward to avail the benefits under various schemes.

He further said that all possible help will be provided to the sheep and goat breeders to avail the government schemes.

Meanwhile on the occasion there was threadbare discussion  on Importance and relevance of FPOs,  INAPH tagging and NLM Insurance by the VASs for Hajin and Sumbal during the awareness camp.

Locals who participated in the camp also shared their views and expressed satisfaction for holding such an informative program.

They thanked the Sheep Husbandry Department for conducting an awareness camp in their area and expected more such programs in the future.

During the camp Rye grass seed kits were also distributed among the registered farmers.
