DC lists key initiatives introduced to revive cooperative movement in the district

RAJOURI: The Cooperative Department Rajouri, in collaboration with the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), on Wednesday organized a seminar on the relevance of the cooperative movement in the 21st century.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the importance of cooperatives and explore innovative ways to strengthen the cooperative movement in the Rajouri district.

The seminar was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal.

 In his address, he underscored the paramount objective of the cooperative movement, which is “Sahkarita” – working collectively for the betterment of all. He emphasized the urgent need to revive the rural economy, recognizing that cooperative movements have played a pivotal role in the country’s history in achieving this goal.

He also emphasized the key initiatives undertaken by the Cooperative Department to revive the cooperative movement in the district. He also highlighted the computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), the establishment of Jan Ashudi Kendra for PACS, and the introduction of Common Service Centers (CSC) as notable initiatives.

He urged the members of the cooperative to actively participate and benefit from these new initiatives. Additionally, he encouraged the youth to join the cooperative movement and contribute their fresh ideas to further enhance its growth.

Distinguished guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Parvaiz from BGSBU, delivered a captivating presentation on effective management in PACS. He shared valuable insights and strategies to improve the management practices within cooperative societies, thereby ensuring their long-term sustainability and success.

Dr. Arvind Isher, Chief Scientist at Kisan Vigyan Kendra, delivered an informative talk on Geographical Indication (GI) tagging for cooperatives. He emphasized the significance of GI tagging in enhancing the market value and recognition of cooperative products, contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the cooperative movement.

Several other members of the cooperative movement also shared their ideas and experiences during the seminar. They discussed various approaches to strengthen the cooperative movement in the Rajouri district, including capacity building programs, financial support, and the integration of modern technologies.

The seminar served as a platform for fruitful discussions, fostering collaboration, and promoting the exchange of ideas among experts, stakeholders, and participants from various cooperative societies.

The Cooperative Department Rajouri and NCUI expressed their gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and attendees who contributed to the success of the seminar. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting and revitalizing the cooperative movement in the district, aiming to create a sustainable and prosperous future for all stakeholders.
