JAMMU: Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) today celebrated the achievements of the nation and brave hearts under the nationwide campaign “ Meri Mati, Mera Desh” to mark the finale of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme here.
Secretary, Planning Development and Monitoring department (PDMD), Dr. Raghav Langer, presided over the function and lead the officers and staff of Directorate for plantation drive in which various saplings of exotic and medicinal plants were planted in ‘Amrit Vatika’ a dedicated park in the premises of the Directorate.
To celebrate the bravery and courage, talented specially abled children from Blind School, Roop Nagar were also felicitated on the occasion for their determination despite all odds in achieving their goals in the fields of education and performing arts.
The children on the occasion sang Desh Bhakti songs and made the environment wholesome.
The Secretary, while speaking on the occasion, impressed upon the civil society to come forward to recognize the hidden talent of these students which may otherwise remain unrecognized.
Later, Secretary also interacted with the children and appreciated their stories of grit and determination and lauded their efforts in achieving their desired goals thereby contributing towards the nation building.
Director General, Economics & Statistics, Satvir Kour Sudan; Special Secretary, Kishore Singh Chib; senior officers of PDMD, DES, Regional Director, and officers of other departments were also present.
The Secretary on the occasion, also administered pledge of Panch Pran to the officers and other participants for dedicating their commitment for nation building.
