JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu concluded the second batch of Capacity Building Programme on Small Business Development Units today at its transit campus at Canal Road, in association with DICCI under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Prof BS Sahay, Director IIM Jammu; Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Academics and Dr Muqbil Burhan, Programme Director on online mode, while Dr Mahesh Gadekar, Programme Director and Dr Prateek Jain, Chairperson, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Jammu, Campus, were present in person.
The second batch of the programme was started on March 6, 2023, with 36 participants from across the country.
Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, and Programme Director, IIM Jammu gave an overview of the programme and mentioned that it aims to transform informal businesses into formal businesses through capacity development and handholding services.
Prof BS Sahay congratulated all the participants and advised them to learn from existing entrepreneurs and network amongst themselves. He also assured them of possible support and assistance from the Institute end at any given point in time. The address was followed by a presentation session by all the participants, and Prof BS Sahay interacted with them and sought their feedback on the programme.
Dr. Mahesh Gadekar presented the highlights of the five-day program. Dr Muqbil Burhan proposed the vote of thanks, and the programme ended on a positive note.
The project aims to establish 75 Small Business Development Units (SBDUs) across the country to provide support and handholding mechanisms for local small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. Out of these, 20 SBDUs will be established in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir, and 2 SBDUs will also be established in Ladakh.
