SHOPIAN: Department of Youth Services & Sports District Shopian held inaugral function of Inter-District Provincial level competition in Tug of War for Boys under All Age Group for the year 2022-23.
The function was attended by the DDC Members, Chief Education Officer Shopian and District Youth Services & Sports Officer Shopian.
In the competition, teams from 09 districts of Kashmir Division are participating which includes 270 student players representing their concerned districts.
During the Inaugural Speech, DYSSO Shopian, Noor Ul Haq laid emphasis on the overall development of personality which is possible only when one attains the physical development. He thanked the higher ups of the department for organising such tournaments at the time of need.
He also insisted upon student players to be careful and not fall prey to drug abuse.
He also made them aware about the government initiatives to curb the alarming drug abuse under the banner of Nasha Mukht Abhiyaan.
All the participating student players and officials took a pledge to desist from the drug abuse.
Chief Education Officer Shopian, Mohammad Mushtaq also advised the students to do their best in the competitions and enjoined upon all to get involved more in the sports for overall development of their personalities.
The Championship was declared open by the Chief Education Officer Shopian, and shall conclude on September 22, 2022.
At the end of the inaugural ceremony Noor ul Haq, District Youth Services and Sports officer delivered Vote of thanks and presented Momentos to the Guests.
