NEW DELHI: Prashant Kumar Singh, a 1993-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the strife-torn state of Manipur.
On January 11, Singh, who belongs to Manipur cadre, had been repatriated to Imphal at the request of the state government.
Singh was Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy prior to his repatriation to Manipur.
The development three weeks after the appointment of Vineet Joshi as the Higher Education Secretary at the Centre. Singh assumes charge as Manipur chief secretary just days after another former bureaucrat AK Bhalla was appointed as the state’s Governor.
