Pr. Secy SDD reviews admission process in Polytechnic Colleges of J&K

SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today chaired a meeting to review the process of admissions in Polytechnic Colleges across Jammu & Kashmir at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Director SDD, Special Secretary SDD, Secretary, Board of Technical Education, Principals of all the Polytechnic Colleges of J&K and Ladakh and other concerned officials.

 During the meeting detailed deliberations were held on improving the enrollment in Polytechnic Colleges besides several other aspects of developing required infrastructure in these institutions were also discussed in detail.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Samoon delved upon the Principals of Polytechnic Colleges that regular awareness camps should be held in High schools and Higher Secondary Schools so that maximum students are attracted towards the courses of Polytechnic Colleges. He asked the Principals to constitute teams in their respective districts in coordination with the field functionaries of different departments so that maximum areas are covered and desired goals of increasing enrollment in Polytechnic Colleges is achieved.

While talking about the growing digital world from last some years, the Principal Secretary highlighted that the courses of digital communication and instrumentation should be popularised among the students as they have maximum job potential in view the growing digital world. He enjoined upon the Principals that we need to take more result oriented efforts to make the polytechnics relevant to the industrial and economic requirements so that a natural demand for polytechnic is achieved.

Dr. Samoon further asked the Principals that the hostel facilities for all the students of far flung areas in their respective districts should be arranged in consultation with the district administration so that the students don’t have any kind of inconvenience.

During the meeting, the Principal of each Polytechnic College informed the Principal Secretary about the progress on admissions in their respective colleges.
