Pr. Secy HED reviews Higher Education sector in Udhampur district

UDHAMPUR: Principal Secretary Higher Education department (HED), Alok Kumar today reviewed Higher Education sector in district as well as address issues related to setting up of Degree College at Moungri-Pancheri here.

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai; Special Secretary HED, Dr. Ravi Shankar; Director School Education Jammu, Ashok Kumar Sharma; SSP Joginder Singh; ADDC Rajinder Singh; ADC Joginder Singh Jasrotia; DDC member Panchari Jasvir Singh and a large number of locals from the twin blocks of Panchari and Moungri were present.

While reviewing the progress of various ongoing developmental works in colleges, the Principal Secretary directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work and stressed for timely completion of these projects. He instructed the concerned Principals of colleges to monitor ongoing works in their respective colleges on regular basis so that they can be completed within the laid timelines.

The Principal Secretary reiterated the commitment of the Higher Education Department to enhance educational infrastructure and accessibility in the region, ensuring that students have the necessary resources and facilities to pursue higher education for better future.

The Principal Secretary also chaired a grievance redressal camp to listen the grievances of the general public of Moungri & Pancheri.

During the camp, PRI members and general public raised numerous issues and demands, including the sanctioning of separate Government Degree Colleges for both blocks, rechristening of the Government Degree College Moungri/Pancheri, early resolution of the issue and identification of a suitable central location for the establishment of the Moungri/Pancheri Government Degree College.

The Principal Secretary, during the interaction with PRI members and other stakeholders, sought their cooperation for the establishment of said Government Degree College in the area. He also gathered feedback and suggestions from PRI members and the general public regarding the establishment of the college. He urged all stakeholders to discuss in length and breadth all related issues and submit it to Deputy Commissioner in a week time.

He assured that once the college is built, it will be equipped with transportation and hostel facilities to benefit the students.
