Police arrests drug peddler in Baramulla, contraband substance recovered

Baramulla: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A police party led by SHO Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq-JKPS during routine patrolling in village Hardshura Kunzer intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehend tactfully. He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir resident of Zaspora Tangmarg. During search, 18 sticks of Charas like substance wrapped in maize peelings weighing about 500grms and cash amount of ₹6000/- concealed in a polythene bag were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kunzer and investigation set in motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
