Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

Baramulla: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in a series of actions have arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police in Baramulla at various checkpoints established across the district have arrested four drug peddlers identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah son of Gh Ahmad Shah resident of Shah Mohalla Nihalpora, Amandeep Singh son of Jaqtar Singh resident of Hoshiarpur Punjab, Aqib Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sheikh Mohallah Mahin & Sameer Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulab Sheikh resident of Hawal Srinagar A/P Waripora Kunzer and recovered 05 Kgs of Poppy Straw & 385 grams of Charas from their possession. Besides, seized vehicle (Maruti Ertiga) bearing registration No PB07BC-8625 used in the commission of crime. All the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pattan, Tangmarg & Kunzer in this regard. Further investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
