Inspects ongoing macadamization works in Hajin and Sumbal areas
BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday said a record length of roads were macadamized in the last two years in the district while the pace will continue this year to ensure macadamization of all left out important roads.
The DC was interacting with the people in Sumbal and Hajin areas of the district during a public interaction program as part of the weekly Block Diwas Program.
Dr Owais said the district took a distinct leap in road connectivity by macadamizing more than 400 kilometers of road length during two years including 16 long pending road projects of far flung areas besides being able to metal the same length (400KMS) of other roads.
He said this year, the macadamization has started again and is in full swing across the district, including in Gurez Valley. He hoped to break the record of macadamization this year.
The DC inspected the ongoing macadamization process in Hajin.
On the occasion, Executive Engineers of R&B and PMGSY informed the visiting officers about the progress of works and said that black topping on said road is in full swing along with on-spot quality checks.
The DC directed the officers to keep check on the quality of work so that standard is maintained for ensuring the safety of roads.
He also visited the Micro Irrigation Facility in Apple Orchards at Shadipora and appreciated the efforts of the Horticulture Department in facilitating the farmers with the latest techniques.
