NIT Srinagar hosts student delegation of PM INSPIRE Internship Program

SRINAGAR: In continued endeavour to promote innovations and research in various fields of science and technology, a delegation of 150 bright students visited National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT) Srinagar,  who were were selected from the various educational institutions of Kashmir valley for PM INSPIRE Internship Program.

As part of Viksit Bharat 2047, program, the delegation was escorted by teachers and the convener Prof Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head Bio-resources, Kashmir University on 28th of August, 2024.  They were selected from the various educational institutions of Kashmir Valley on merit basis.

In a joint message, Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar Director Prof. A. Ravinder Nath and Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Aatikur Rehman emphasized the significant value of such exposure visits to the institute.

They highlighted how these experiences not only enrich the students’ understanding but also inspire them to explore various career paths in science and engineering.

 After a warm reception, the students in groups visited various laboratories and shops in Central Workshop. The schedule of the programme included, hands on experiments, various engineering laboratory visits and quiz competitions for participants so that they could reap the benefits and chalk out their plans for future career in science.

The toppers in the quiz were felicitated on the spot. They also interacted with experts in various branches of science and where resource persons shared their experiences with the participants.

The visit was appreciated as gathered from the participants and their mentors through feedback mechanism.

The visit was successfully concluded with an elaborated discussion on Career in Sciences by eminent personalities including Prof M A Shah, Former Convener INSPIRE programs at NIT Srinagar, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Prof Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Convener and Mr Shahid, CEO Green Innovator.

An expert team of Chinar Quantum headed by Mr Junaid and Miss Ifrah delivered a lecture on AI and ML, which was followed by a question-and-answer session.

Those who participated in this internship programme were 150 bright students from various educational institutions of Kashmir valley.

The major objective of the programme is to motivate and inspire the young minds to pursue serious studies in various branches of science.

It has been past experience of organizers that programmes of such relevance are instrumental in making a marked positive change in growth and progress of scientific manpower in the region.

Prof Shah acknowledged the support of Dr. Hanief, Superintendent Central Workshop, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Officer In charge Guest House, Dr. Nadeem and research scholars of the Physics Department, who will be felicitated during valedictory at Kashmir University.

He said support of DST, Govt of India for providing generous support for such an exciting and inspiring Program and selecting University of Kashmir for venue and platform, where facilities are enough to hold such programs.
