Nikshay Poshan Yojana: DC Srinagar hands-over Rs 2.31 Lakh Cheque for nutritional support to TB patients

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar/ Chairman District Red cross Society, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Monday handed over a cheque amounting Rs 2.31 lakh from the Red Cross Society to the Chief Medical Officer Srinagar here in his Office chamber for providing nutritional support to Tuberculosis (TB) patients aiding in their faster recovery under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana.

The Nikshay Poshan scheme is an initiative, launched by the Government of India, to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from the country by providing comprehensive support to patients and ensuring successful treatment outcomes aimed to enhance the nutritional status of TB patients, aiding their recovery and overall well-being.

On the occasion, DC said that the initiative is a vital step towards strengthening the healthcare system in the district and reiterated the Administration’s dedication to public health. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to combat TB and urged all stakeholders to actively contribute to the success of such initiatives.

It is pertinent to mention that the District Administration Srinagar has adopted 77 TB patients under Nikshay Mitra scheme exhibiting its proactive stand to eradicate TB from the district and ensuring better outcomes for affected individuals.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer Srinagar Dr. Tahir Sajad extended his heartfelt gratitude to District Administration Srinagar, particularly to the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar for valuable support, coordination and key contribution in facilitating the process.
