NDRF conducts table top mock drill at Ramban

RAMBAN:  A team of 13th Bn NDRF today conducted Table Top Exercise (TTE) on Earthquakes and Landslides as a part of its two-day awareness programme.

  Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Harbans Lal Sharma   presided over the event which was attended by ACR, Gias-Ul-Haq; Dy.SP Hqtr,  Om Parkash; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Rajeev Gai;  CEO, Devanand; Assistant Commandant NDRF, Javed Iqbal; ARTO, Samrinder Singh; AD Fire & Emergency, AD FCS&CA,  Tehsildars, SDRF, , QRT Ramban besides   other officers of   Police and line departments.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC highlighted the need for coordination among all the stockholders to formulate a uniform operation strategy to deal with disaster-like situations.

The ADC asked the agencies to also focus on handling cloud bursts, road accidents  and earthquake-like challenges.   

At the outset, the Assistant Commandant of NDRF gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the structure and role of NDRF in India, its abilities, the details of machines used for dealing with all types of natural and man-made disasters, etc.

He stressed on the need to maintain coordination among the stakeholders during a disaster to reduce response time for rescue measures.

 Meanwhile, the team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) demonstrated Table Top Exercise (TTE) which is helpful in staying safe in the wake of an earthquake or landslide.

The meeting held a threadbare discussion on the Response, Rescue and Rehabilitation preparation plan and strategy to mitigate the damage and loss of lives and property during high-intensity earthquakes and other disasters.

Heads of different stakeholder departments responded to the queries during the meeting.

Deliberations were also held on the utility of satellite phones, helipads, medical infrastructure and response team, hygiene and sanitation, drinking water supply, the role of media, awareness, and training to effectively tackle the unprecedented disaster in the district.

It was informed that the Mock Drill will be organized by the NDRF team to sensitize stakeholders about rescue preparedness at the time of an earthquake, landslide, or fire incident.
