JAMMU: A Valedictory function of National Road safety Month-2024 (15th January, 2024 to 14th February, 2024) was today organized by the Motor Vehicles Department in association with All J&K Transporters Welfare Association Jammu here at Warehouse.
Transport Commissioner, J&K Rajinder Singh Tara, Paramveer Singh, Additional Secretary, Road Safety Council, J&K, Pankaj Bhagotra, RTO Jammu, S. Ajit Singh, Chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association were present on the occasion.
Besides Rehana Tabassum, ARTO (Headquarters), Esha Chib, ARTO Board of Inspection (Goods), Kuldeep Singh, ARTO, Board of Inspection (Passengers), Neeraj Sharma, ARTO Flying Squad, Teams from Red Cross and Health Department, Jammu and other heads of all Transport Associations (Truck/Bus/Bus/Mini Bus) were also present.
Addressing the huge gathering, the Transport Commissioner urged the participants/Drivers and conductors to adhere to the road safety rules. He said that the main objective behind observing countrywide National Road Safety Month by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways was to generate mass awareness about safety and security of road users and to minimize the number of deaths and injuries caused due to the road accidents in the U.T of Jammu and Kashmir and the whole Country.
The Transport Commissioner also congratulated the whole team of Motor Vehicles Department and Transport Associations for their efforts for holding maximum awareness/events not only in the Road Safety Month but also during the entire year.
The RTO Jammu impressed upon all the transporters, Vehicle Owners, drivers, Conductors, travelers and road users to strictly follow road safety and traffic rules to minimise the number of road accidents.
S. Ajit Singh, Chairman, All J&K Transport Welfare Association emphasized upon all the concerned persons to strictly follow the rules so that safety of passengers can be ensured.
ARTOs also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the Motor Vehicles Department in different fields and initiatives of Government of India. Earlier a pledge on road safety was also administered to the participants.
A Medical Health Check-up camp was also organized in association with Health Department and Red Cross
Earlier, the Regional Transport Officer presented the welcome address and formally welcomed all the participants and Transport associations, while the vote of Thanks was presented by ARTO, (Headquarters).
