‘My Town My Pride’ kick-starts at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: ‘My Town My Pride’ programme kick-started today at 10 Urban Local Bodies of Anantnag with Visiting Officers allotted to various ULBs inaugurated the programs at respective locations. 

At Anantnag Town, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Special Secretary to the Government, Finance Department (addl. charge CEO, JK Era and Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission) was the visiting officer accompanied by Manzoor Ahmad and Ahmad Hussain, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Kashmir.

Dr Abid, in presence of Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag; SSP Anantnag and President MC Anantnag inaugurated the programme at Dak Bungalow, Anantnag. 

The team inspected the stalls setup by various departments including ICDS, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Industries and ITI among others for dissemination of information among the public regarding various public schemes in vogue, eligibility criteria and benefits under the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abid said that the face-lifting of Anantnag made possible by sincere efforts of Deputy Commissioner and President MC Anantnag has shown visible improvements in the town.

He said that the Government is fully committed to ensuring 100% coverage of beneficiaries under various welfare schemes.

Highlighting the role of PRIs and officials in ensuring people exercise their right, he said people have the most important role in development plan formulation and added that PRIs and officers must facilitate them. He said PRIs are a bridge between institutional mechanisms and the people.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom said that 7 plans are being formulated as part of the ‘My Town My Pride’ program aimed at planned development of the urban areas.

He said that during the Jan Abhiyan held as a prelude to the MTMP, 338 awareness camps were organized, 242 beneficiaries of PMAY (U) completed Grah Pravesh, 179 licenses were issued under PM SVANidhi, land for Solid Waste management was identified at 8 locations and 561 potential youth were identified for linking with self-employment schemes.

President MC Anantnag, Er Hilal Shah said that several projects have been completed by MC recently and dedicated to the public important among them being multi-level car parking, operationalization of 4 KLD sewage treatment plant at Mehdi Kadal, water reservoir at KU South Campus, Joggers Park bypass and community hall Ashajipora.

He said that the Library cum Community Hall at KP Road, Community Marriage Hall and Clock Tower are under execution and will be completed soon. He said that the MC is committed to the overall development of the Town and inputs of the public through the various plans under formulation will form the basis of future development.

The visiting dignitaries distributed sanction letters under the MUMKIN scheme, scholarships, golden cards, etc among beneficiaries on the occasion.

At Town Hall Anantnag, colourful cultural programs were organized.

Similar functions were held in the other ULBs. At Kokernag, Moahmmad Harun, Secretary Tribal Affairs presided over the function. At Dooru Verinag, Nazim Zai Khan, Secretary DMRRR and Imam ud Din, Director RDD, Kashmir were the visiting officials. At Qazigund, Sajjad Hussain Ganai Addl. IG Registrations chaired the function while at Pahalgam the function was presided over by Jahangir Khanday, Jt Director School Education, South.

Mohammad Shafi Chak, Director Social Welfare and Abdul Salam Mir, Director FCS & CA Kashmir chaired the function at MC Aishmuqam and MC Bijbehara respectively. At Achabal, Special Secretary Jal Shakti, GN Itoo, at MC Mattan, Special Secretary Agriculture, Mohammad Farooq Dar and at MC Seer, Dr Nargis Suraiya presided over the function. 

The visiting officers inspected the stalls setup by various departments and interacted with the beneficiaries. They also distributed sanction letters and golden cards among the beneficiaries.
