My Town My Pride culminates with good public participation in 6 Municipalities of Budgam

BUDGAM: The Jan Abhiyan programmes organized under ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ 2.0 (MTMP), programme witnessed good public participation in all 6 Municipalities of Budgam district.

Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Prashant Goyal, who presided over the MTMP programme at Sports Stadium Budgam as Visiting Officer, inaugurated Double Storey Laboratory, Operation Theatre and Indoor Facility building at Chief Animal Husbandry Office Budgam.

Principal Secretary interacted with local youth and distributed sports kits among youth clubs and sports lovers. He reviewed the Municipal Finance and Capex Plan 2023- 2024, City Livelihood Plan, resource mobilization, city tourism, green city and smart vending plans.

During the programme, Principal Secretary also reviewed development of Urban Local Bodies with elected representatives and district officers.

Terming MTMP as an ambitious programme for development of urban areas, Principal Secretary said through the programme government  itself reaches out to the general public in Town areas at door steps and listens to them and get direct feedback on governance and developmental process.

Along with Main Town Budgam, the MTMP events were also held at Higher Secondary School Chadoora, which was presided over by Visiting Officer, Ulfat Jabeen, MD, J&K Women Development Corporation.

At Khansaheb Town, the programme was presided over by Ghulam Rasool Mir, Director Horticulture Kashmir while Syed Qamar Sajad, Additional Registrar Cooperative Kashmir, presided over the programme at Townhall, Magam.

Similar MTMP, Jan Abhiyaan events were also held at Townhall Beerwah and Townhall Char-i-Sharief which were presided over by Zeenat Ara, Programme Officer ICDS and Masrat Hashim, Additional Secretary with GAD respectively.

Over 600 specially abled persons received prosthetic aid including, tricycles, wheelchairs, hearing and other aid during the MTMP programmes at Budgam and Beerwah Towns.

Various beneficiaries received Grah Pravesh and Best House Certificates under PMAY- HFA Urban.

Felicitating the end beneficiaries, the Visiting Officers distributed sanction and approval letters among hundreds of beneficiaries under different self-employment schemes.

Various departments continued to showcase their products and raise awareness regarding their public  welfare initiatives and self employment schemes at stalls installed in all Municipalities.

In order to promote sports culture and ensure maximum student participation in co-curricular activities, the Visiting officers also inaugurated variety of sports events at different school in Municipality areas for the last day of MTMP Programme.

The visiting officers also held meetings with elected Councilors led by their Presidents, held interactions with prominent citizens, NGOs, Traders, Youth Clubs, Transporters and other concerned during the Jan Abiyan programme.

Review of implementation of schemes and awareness generation about Jan Baghidari and Digital JK schemes were also held by the Visiting Officers.

The visiting officers also inaugurated number of Khidmat Centres, distributed sports equipments, soil health cards, land passbooks, and conducted visits to ration depots, aganwadi centres,  hospitals, schools, ICT labs and other facilities to take on spot stock of facilities.

Inauguration of sports events, plantation drives, speeches under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programmes at colleges and schools, witnessing of sports events were among other activities held by Visiting Officers during MTMP programme.

At the outset, students from different schools performed various folk, cultural programmes and skits at different venues.

Presidents of Municipal Councils, concerned SDMs, Councilors, District Officers, SDM level Officers, EOs and other concerned also attended the programmes.
