Model Panchayat project: DC Kishtwar Steers Awareness Initiative, Evaluates Developmental Milestones at Badhat

KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today visited Model Panchayat Badhaat of Saroor area in Block Drabshalla to preside over an awareness initiative and assess advancements made  in the execution of key developmental projects in the panchayat.

To ensure saturation of the 78 essential indicators, the DDC has tasked the functionaries of all stakeholder departments  to visit to the 13 designated Model Panchayats on regular intervals to assess the progress and resolve bottlenecks, if any to avoid hiccups in the execution process.

At the awareness camp in Saroor, the DC Kishtwar emphasized on the effective implementation of the government schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), health initiatives and social programs to achieve envisioned community welfare and advancement.

The DDC asked the sectoral officers and field functionaries to work tirelessly to achieve the set targets.

Later, the DDC inspected ongoing development works, seeking timely completion with assured quality. He engaged with the Village Monitoring Committee (VMCs), local residents and former PRI members, stating that the Model Panchayat project envisages comprehensive indicator coverage, addressing community concerns, and providing prompt resolutions. He  encouraged the Village Monitoring Committee to proactively coordinate with departments to bridge gaps in Panchayat development.

In response to local health requirements, the stakeholder departments were instructed to organize a medical camp offering free checkups and medicines to Panchayat residents.

The District Development Commissioner warned the officers who had not yet visited their designated Model panchayats, underscoring that negligence in duty would lead to stringent action. He emphasized the importance of committed on-ground engagement by all officials to guarantee the effective execution of developmental programs and to comprehensively address the community’s needs.
