Mission Director JJM, DDC review progress of Jal Jeevan Mission projects in district Samba

SAMBA: Mission Director Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Dr. G.N. Itoo, alongside District Development Commissioner Samba, Rajesh Sharma today conducted an in-depth review of the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in Samba district, here today.

The review meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Jammu, Bodh Raj Bhagat; Chief Planning Officer, Samba, Kasturi Lal; Executive Engineer Ground Water Division Jammu, Rakesh Bhatti; Executive Engineer, PHE Division Samba; Executive Engineer JPDCL Vijaypur and officials from DPMU Samba, AEEs, JEs, contractors, Third Party Inspection (TPI) agencies, Implementation Support Agencies (ISAs), and contractors involved in civil and mechanical works.

At the outset, the Superintending Engineer (Hydraulic Circle) briefed the Mission Director and the Deputy Commissioner on the project’s current status, noting that 73 schemes have been completed, while 57 schemes are at various stages of execution. 

The SE emphasized that all schemes are on track for completion by February 2025. It was further informed that out of 56 Overhead Tanks (OHTs) planned, 28 have been completed, with another 10 expected to be finished by the end of the current month. The remaining OHTs are scheduled for completion by February 2025.

The review also set completion targets for Electro-Mechanical works, Electric Sub-Stations, Filtration Plants, and the Drilling of Tube Wells, including the allotment of three re-tendered tube wells. 

The Mission Director underscored the need for timely and effective project execution to meet the targets of this flagship program.

In addition to infrastructure progress, the Mission Director directed the field staff to ensure 100% “Har Ghar Jal” certification for covered villages, essential for verifying the water supply status across Samba district.

The DDC instructed the AEEs and JEs to guarantee uninterrupted water supply to the public and to ensure the prompt repair of machinery at nearby workshops as needed. Additionally, he directed officials to resolve any land issues in collaboration with the District Administration to avoid delays in project implementation.

The review meeting emphasized the administration’s commitment to completing JJM schemes within the stipulated timeframe, with all officials and contractors directed to expedite their efforts to provide accessible and clean water to every household in District Samba.
