SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday voiced apprehensions regarding the impending Supreme Court verdict on the Article 370 case.
Citing the extended five-year duration taken for the Supreme Court to adjudicate the matter, she drew attention to the Court’s previous assertion that the removal of Article 370 necessitated a constituent assembly.
Underlining the perceived constitutional irregularity of the decision made on August 5, 2019, the PDP President expressed concerns about the ongoing security measures in Jammu and Kashmir, hinting at potential implications for the region’s residents.
“First Supreme Court took 5 years to hear Article 370 case but given the Supreme Court previous several judgements that without constituent assembly Article 370 cannot be removed, so the final verdict should be simple and straight that the August 05 2019 decision was unconstitutional,” she said.
“However, as far as precautions being taken in J&K by police and security forces is concerned, it seems that the verdict will be against the people of J&K,” she added.
