Srinagar: Ist semester students of M.Tech Embedded Systems and Solutions of Kashmir University on Saturday sought an alternative to their in-person examinations, which will be conducted on January 18th at the varsity’s main campus.

The students told Kashmir News Bureau that the varsity is going to take their examinations on Tuesday amid the growing cases of Covid19.

“We have no problems in appearing for our exams but conducting the same in offline mode at this juncture of time is making us apprehensive of contracting the virus, which could endanger the lives of our family members and especially elders back at home,” said one of the M.Tech students on the basis of anonymity.

The students said that their exams should be either conducted online or be suspended for the moment. “Yesterday, two students of IT M.Sc tested positive for Covid19. Amid such a threat, how can the university conduct in-person examinations for us?” asked the students.

They further said that they had talked to the concerned officials at the university in this regard, ‘but the response was tepid’.

When KNB contacted the Controller of Examinations, Kashmir University, he said that the Head of Department decides about departmental examinations. “There has been no decision taken as of now on the scheduled exams by the varsity,” the official added.
