180 interns selected for free technical training

SRINAGAR: To enhance the academic and professional growth of engineering students, the Institute of Technology (IoT), Zakura Campus, University of Kashmir (KU) inaugurated its four-week Winter Internship Programs -2025.

The programs aim to equip students with advanced technical skills and prepare them to excel in their careers and contribute to the engineering and innovation landscape.

The five programs include- CNC milling and turning operations, embedded system design using Arduino and PLC with Edge AI, applied data tools and programming, power system analysis, control, and optimization using MATLAB and Python, civil engineering practices: from surveying to cost estimation.

Speaking at the e- inaugural session, Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan lauded the Institute’s efforts in launching innovative programs that bridge the gap between academics and industry needs.

“These internships are a pathway for students to gain hands-on experience and prepare for emerging professional challenges,” she noted.

She also praised the Institute’s recent 4-star rating in AICTE IIC 6.0 and the approval of the AICTE-sanctioned Idea Lab.

Dean Academic Affairs KU, Prof. Shariefuddin Pirzada emphasized the importance of such programs stating, “Such programs are essential for preparing students to tackle real-world challenges and succeed in competitive industries.”

Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal said, “The University remains committed to providing top-notch facilities and platforms for our students to grow academically and professionally.”

Dean, School of Engineering KU, Prof S. Muzaffar Andrabi congratulated the selected interns, underlining the importance of hands-on learning for professional and personal development.

Director IoT, Zakura campus KU, Prof. M. Tariq Banday, in his welcome address, congratulated the 180 selected interns from over 270 applicants and highlighted the Institute’s decision to offer the internships free of cost, reinforcing its commitment to accessible education.
