KU deputes NSS volunteers to participate in ‘National Adventure Camp’

Adventure helps youth build character, develop resilience, cultivate leadership skills: KU VC

SRINAGAR: To offer participants a transformative experience through training in various adventure activities aimed at enhancing leadership, teamwork and resilience under professional guidance, the University of Kashmir (KU) deputed a group of NSS volunteers to participate in the prestigious ‘National Adventure Camp’, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

NSS Programme Coordinator, KU, Dr Musavir Ahmad, flagged off the contingent on the directions of Vice Chancellor Prof Nilofar Khan.

In a statement, KU Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofar Khan, expressed her pride in the young volunteers representing the institution on a national platform.

“Participation in such events provides an excellent opportunity for our youth to build character, develop resilience, and cultivate leadership skills,” she said.

She added that the varaity is committed to support students in gaining exposure to diverse experiences that contribute to their holistic development.

KU Registrar, Prof Naseer Iqbal, emphasised the institution’s dedication to empower students through various extracurricular initiatives.

“NSS volunteers from our university are now an integral part of every major national camp, which speaks volumes about the progress we have made in promoting youth engagement,” he said.

He further said that the adventure camp is yet another step towards encouraging youth to overcome challenges and grow both personally and professionally.

NSS Coordinator, Dr Musavir Ahmad, highlighted the unprecedented opportunities being made available to NSS volunteers.

“Until recently, participation in such camps was merely a dream for many. Today, our volunteers are proudly representing KU at every national event, reflecting our continuous efforts in creating platforms for the youth to excel,” he said.

The camp started on October 14 at the Regional Water Sports Centre, Pong Dam, ABVIMAS, Himachal Pradesh.

NSS Programme Officer, Gowhar Khursheed, is leading the team and the programme will continue until October 23.
