Two Institutions to work together for curriculum design, teaching-training

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and Central University of Jammu on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together for entrepreneurship development and Start-up related services.

Under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI, the collaboration aims to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the region by leveraging the expertise of both the institutions.

The MoU is expected to pave the way for joint initiatives to strengthen the entrepreneurship and start-up climate among the student community. Training, capacity building, mentoring, incubating novel ideas and handholding to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit among the student community are part of the MoU.

Combining the expertise of JKEDI and Central University of Jammu, this partnership looks forward to fostering a vibrant entrepreneurial culture.

The MoU was signed in a formal ceremony held at JKEDI, Bari Brahmana Campus and attended by key officials from both the institutions. The signatories were Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI and Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu in presence of Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Dean, School of Business Studies, Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies, Zahid Ali Dar, I/c CIIBM, JKEDI and Dr. Vinod Kumar, Teaching Associate/ In-charge CBD, JKEDI.

The purpose of the MoU between the two institutions is to work together for curriculum design by way of providing valuable inputs in teaching-training methodology and suitably customizes the curriculum so that the students fit in the entrepreneurial scenario meaningfully, followed by industrial training and visits, Internship for the students, Research and Development, skill development programs and guest lectures. The environment and the discussion echoed a strong resolve to achieve the mandate.

On this occasion, Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director JKEDI said, “We at JKEDI are committed to train and empower different sections of society on the premise of entrepreneurship which is the future of the nation.” He said JKEDI shall extend support for internships to students of the Central University of Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar Central University of Jammu Jammu, said this partnership is a significant stride to help the student community benefit by enhancing their skills and knowledge with regard to entrepreneurship, innovation and startups. He further informed that Central University of Jammu has established a Section 8 company CUJ SITE COUNCIL to provide incubation support to learners.

Prof. Jaya Bhasin and Dr Shahid Mushtaq shared valuable inputs about vocationalisation and skilling ecosystem being promoted by Central University of Jammu in project mode.

Apart from this an action plan was discussed for execution of activities on the trajectory that could be adopted to enhance the entrepreneurship quotient among learners. This MoU is aimed at offering the students enhanced opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills and contribute to the region’s economic growth. Both institutions will collaborate on faculty development programs, including workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies and subject expertise besides enabling small businesses with the right skill sets and training as well as creating networking forums for them to learn from like-minded individuals and industry experts.
