JAMMU: As a sequel to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s vision of saving our climate, Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission today celebrated “World Meteorological Day 2023” at State Health Society Nagrota, Jammu.
During the celebration, achievements, current progress and future opportunities were discussed to sensitize the audience on climate change.
J&K NHM organised the event on this year’s theme “Future of weather, climate and water across the generations”,
Mission Director, NHM, Ayushi Sudan, inaugurated the programme and provided detailed insights on this year’s theme and shared some facts about the impacts of climate change on human health. She appealed the audience to perform their part with all devotion to save the planet earth.
The programme was designed to highlight the essentials of climate change besides discussing steps need to be taken up to reduce the deterioration of climate.
The introductory session was addressed by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Programme Manager Climate Change. He highlighted the importance of steps to be taken in this regard.
Satish Kumar, ICT consultant from Mavis Technologies New Delhi presented a detailed presentation on the “Role of ICT in climate change” which highlighted how information and communication technology is leading the way in climate change.
Gundeep Singh from Rise Global Meteorology Department, New Delhi, highlighted the importance of “Jal Shakti Mission” in providing clean water to households besides telling how this mission helps in water conservation as well.
Students from JMC, Cluster University and NCC also shared their thoughts on water conservation and ways of mitigating climate change.
