J&K Bank Board of Directors endorses Amitava Chatterjee as new MD&CEO

To take charge as J&K bank chief on 30th December ‘2024

SRINAGAR: The Board of Directors of J&K Bank has confirmed the appointment of Amitava Chatterjee as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer ( MD&CEO) of the bank. 

This follows the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s nomination of Chatterjee as the Government Nominee Director on the bank’s Board as per order No.414-F of 2024 Dated 25.12.2024, effective December 30, 2024, for a term of three years. 

He succeeds Baldev Prakash, whose tenure concludes on December 29, 2024.

Chatterjee brings with him an illustrious career in banking spanning over three decades, having held key positions in the State Bank of India and SBICAPs. His leadership experience includes spearheading operations in diverse geographical regions and handling critical responsibilities such as business development, risk management, and compliance.

A postgraduate in Business Administration from ICFAI University, Hyderabad, and a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), Mr. Chatterjee is well-regarded for his strategic acumen and client-focused approach. Beyond his professional life, he is a sports enthusiast with a passion for tennis, football, and cricket.

The bank disclosed this development to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the BSE, aligning with regulatory requirements which is available on their official websites also. Chatterjee’s appointment is anticipated to usher in a new phase of growth and innovation for J&K Bank. (
