JAMMU: With the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji set for November 15, the District Administration Jammu is diligently working to ensure a seamless Gurupurab celebration.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ansuya Jamwal led a review meeting to assess preparations in key areas including security, cleanliness, essential services and traffic management.
Cleanliness was highlighted as a top priority, with the Jammu Municipal Corporation instructed to uphold high standards of hygiene around major Gurudwaras. Plans include regular garbage collection, installation of additional dustbins and enhanced sanitation measures to keep key sites welcoming for visitors.
Traffic management was also emphasised, with arrangements for designated parking spaces and smooth flow in high-traffic areas.
Uninterrupted power and water supplies were prioritised, with Executive Engineers from the Jal Shakti and Power Development Departments tasked to ensure consistent services, including arranging water tankers, if necessary.
Additional provisions for medical support and emergency services, including fire safety, will be in place throughout the celebrations. Magistrates will be deployed at key locations to maintain order and regular water sprinkling on the celebration routes.
All departments were directed to deliver high-quality arrangements for this year’s Gurupurab celebrations.
“We want this celebration to be joyous and safe for everyone,” ADC Ansuya Jamwal concluded. “Through collective effort, we are committed to honouring the spirit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings.”
