All 58 identified sources being restored in one week
KISHTWAR: The Jal Shakti Department, Hydraulic Division Kishtwar, under the aegis of District Administration, has undertaken the massive task of repairing non-functional hand pumps to enhance ease of access in the district.
The repair work was made possible through the District Mineral Trust Fund (DMFT) of the district administration Kishtwar in spirit with the commitment of the administration to guarantee drinking water accessibility to the residents of Kishtwar Town and its surrounding areas by augmenting the main tap water system.
Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Sunil Sharma informed that as of now, they have successfully brought 5 hand pumps back to life, ensuring a vital source of clean and accessible water for the local populace.
The remaining 58 hand pumps identified across the district are also in the process of being restored and are expected to be fully operational within a week.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Devansh Yadav has urged the Jal Shakti authorities to expedite the pace and mobilize the necessary manpower and machinery to restore the non-functional hand pumps within the set deadline.
