Highlights demands to boost industrial growth in J&K

JAMMU: Ahead of the first budget to be presented by Omar led government, a delegation of Bari Brahmana Industries Association today met Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, presenting a comprehensive list of demands to make their units lucrative.

The association emphasised the need for extending implementation of turnover-based incentives to support and encourage existing operational industrial units of J&K. It also sought a dedicated budget for working capital interest subvention without any capping, ensuring financial relief to industrial units.

Other demands raised by the association included introduction of price and purchase preferences for local MSMEs to enhance their competitiveness and market share. The delegation also demanded steps to convert leaseholder rights into freehold rights for existing industrial units in J&K.

In addition, they asked for Infrastructure Upgradation at Industrial Estate Bari Brahmana, GST-Linked Incentives, adoption of ease of doing business principles by all government departments, including onboarding on a single-window system to streamline approvals and processes.

The delegation stressed that these measures are vital for industrial sector’s growth and attracting more investments into the region.

The Advisor to Chief Minister listened attentively to the delegation’s concerns and assured them of government’s commitment towards resolving their genuine issues. He made out that the Omar Abdullah led government is focused on creating a business-friendly environment and ensuring that the industrial sector thrives.

The delegation was led by Association President, Lalit Mahajan, with other members including Senior Vice President, General Secretary and several Executive Committee members of the association accompanying him to meet the Advisor.

Pertinent to mention here that besides these a number of delegations from all over J&K met the Advisor and apprised him of their demands. He assured them of taking all necessary steps to address their issues and concerns at an earliest.
