SHOPIAN: The Horticulture department Shopian today organized a ‘One Day Training cum Exposure Visit of Farmers within district’ with the support of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) at Fruit Plant Nursery Zainapora, Shopian and Ultra High Density (UHD) orchards in the district.
A large number of orchardists from all parts of the district participated in the programme.
The programme started with the awareness about the cleanliness/hygiene and keeping the surroundings clean to the participants.
With the continuous efforts of the Department to generate awareness among the farming community, the officers of the Horticulture Department and the Scientist from KVK Shopian, provided technical knowhow to the farmers about latest technologies regarding management of nursery particularly clonal rootstock, orchard management , soil testing etc.
The participants were exposed to different nursery activities at Fruit Plant Nursery, Zainapora. The officers of the department provided the information about different development schemes of the department.
Besides, the orchardists also visited some Ultra High Density orchards of some progressive orchardists of the district and interacted with the owners about different activities, technologies and the benefits of High Density Plantation.
Among others the officers of the department, the programme was also attended by the Incharge FPN Zainapora and officials of the Horticulture Department.
