JAMMU: Director Handicrafts and Handloom Jammu Suraj Parkash Rukwal today gave away certificates to pass out trainees at an awareness programme organized in the office of Assistant Director Handicrafts Janipur.
The event, organised under the guidance of Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary to Government Industries & Commerce Department, also included an insightful inspection of the Showroom Complex, which serves as a sale outlet and houses exquisite products made by the craftsmen of Jammu division.
During the event, Director Handloom & Handicrafts encouraged artisans and interacted with them about the problems and issues that they are facing. He further inspired passed trainees and encouraged them to make cooperative societies in order to become self-reliant and self employed.
He also shed light on various departmental schemes, where the youth can approach for development of skills and organize themselves into cooperatives to avail benefit of various Centrally/UT sponsored schemes like Weavers Mudra Scheme, National Handloom Development Programme, Credit Card Scheme for Artisans & weavers, Financial Support Scheme for Cooperatives besides availing soft loans and subsidies for entrepreneurship development aiming to raise awareness and provide support to artisans.
The event concluded with a gesture of hospitality, as tea and refreshments were served to all attendees, fostering a sense of community spirit
