Sets deadline of one year for completion of Regional Cultural Centre Kathua
KATHUA: In its endeavors to promote and preserve cultural and literary legacy of the region, the government has devised a multi-pronged strategy to revive and revitalize these fields in the Union Territory in general and Kathua district in particular.
Principal Secretary, Culture, Suresh Kumar Gupta, stated this during his extensive visit to the district. He said that instructions have been issued to the J&K Academy of Art, Cultural & Languages (JKAACL) for expediting the construction work on Regional Cultural Centre, Kathua which would be a step forwards in this direction.
The cultural centre, construction of which is underway at Kathua, is being built with state-of-the-art technology having a auditorium, guest rooms, library and office space.
Giving details, Suresh Kumar said that the Culture Department through JKAACL would work in close contact with writers and experts in different art forms to promote rich cultural and literary heritage of the area. He assured that the Academy’s sub-office at Kathua would be geared up to broaden its activities which, on account of lack of space and allied facilities, had more or less remained restricted to holding local mushairas and seminars.
