GMC Doda hosts Quiz Competition, Academic Engagement to mark World Health Day-2025

DODA: The Department of Community Medicine of Government Medical College (GMC) Doda celebrated World Health Day 2025 with great zeal and academic fervour under the guidance of Dr. Suresh Kotwal, Head of the Department, and the able leadership of Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl.

This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” highlighted the essential right of every individual to access quality healthcare, proper education, and a clean and supportive living environment.

To commemorate the occasion, a thought-provoking Undergraduate Quiz Competition was organized under the banner of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM). The competition aimed to enhance awareness among medical students about pressing public health challenges while encouraging academic curiosity and problem-solving abilities. The quiz focused on key subjects such as maternal and child health, health equity, nutrition, disease prevention, and healthcare systems.

The event was conducted successfully by Dr. Imran Zaffer Senior Resident from the Department of Community Medicine and Dr. Gurjinder Senior Resident from the Department of Biochemistry. It witnessed active participation from undergraduate students who demonstrated commendable knowledge, enthusiasm, and teamwork in tackling complex questions on preventive and social medicine.

In his address, Principal Dr. Rakesh Bahl appreciated the organising Committee and emphasized the importance of such academic initiatives in shaping the perspectives of future healthcare professionals. He also reiterated the need for ongoing learning and awareness to build a resilient and equitable healthcare system.

The Department of Community Medicine extended sincere thanks to all faculty members, students and volunteers for making the event a grand success.
