GeM onboarding Drive for ODOP organised by JKTPO at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: On the directions of Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Prashant Goyal, a special onboarding drive of one district one product (ODOP) of Ganderbal on Government e-Market place (GeM) was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) today for potential exporters, artisans, FPO’s & traders of district Ganderbal at Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal in association with Invest India (ODOP team) and District Administration, Ganderbal.

The drive was aimed to onboard sellers, artisans, exporters and traders selling Willow Wicker product on Government e -Market place.

To take this initiative forward and provide forward market linkages, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce has taken a joint meeting of all States/UTS in which it was informed that “ODOP Products” are to be onboarded on GeM portal and “District Collectors” have been designated as OEMs to facilitate the GeM portal onboarding drive at district level. Artisans/ Farmers /FPOs/ Artisan Organizations/ SHGS/ Small entrepreneurs of “ODOP Products” can get onboarded on GeM portal without any fees and GST.

Willow Wicker, the ODOP of district Ganderbal under District as Export Hub Scheme/ODOP initiative. The willow wicker products have an attractive face value and intricate designs which make them a hit not only in the local markets but are also exported to different parts of the country and abroad. Onboarding on GeM will open Government market for sellers of ODOP products.

Pertinently, GeM, launched by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, is the national public procurement portal for an online, end-to-end marketplace for open, efficient and transparent procurement of goods and services by central and state government organisations. GeM has been set up as the National procurement portal to provide an end-to-end online marketplace for Central and state governments.

The drive was attended by unit Holders, artisans, FPO’s, traders & exporters of Willow Wicker from district Ganderbal and also by officers of Handicrafts and Handloom Deptt. All the participants who attended the drive were onboarded on GeM platform.

The drive included a detailed sessions by the experts on benefits of selling products on Government e-Marketplace. Onboarding on GeM will provide sellers direct access to all Government departments and will Increase overall exports of their product.The sellers on the GeM portal can be proprietor artisans, exporters firms, FPO, Cooperatives & startups. They can easily list their goods on the portal for procurement by government organizations and participate in government bids and auctions. The GeM portal thus facilitates transparency in the government public procurement process.

During this drive 20 artisans/entrepreneurs were onbarded on GeM free of cost .

Among those who onboarded onspot were Dar Willow works, Real Kashmir Baskets Madina Basket stores, National Willow Works and Budshah Willow works etc. Experts from Invest India & JKTPO also had a one-to-one awareness session with the participants who were on-boarded on this platform.

JKTPO in recent past has been actively promoting the e-commerce/export awareness in Jammu & Kashmir by organising different workshops at district levels. Like this session for onboarding on GeM. JKTPO also organised awareness drives and onboarding drives for onboarding on ONDC platform.

This onboarding drive is in line of the planned events to be held across UT for the onbardig of ODOP products on GeM platform towards ODOP initiative.

A similar onboarding drive will also be held in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir region in coming days.
