Formulation of Environment Conservation Plan discussed at Doda

Activity plan for international Forests Day finalized

DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan today chaired a meeting of the District Environmental Committee (DEC) and discussed in detail the Environment Conservation Plan.  

It was decided that the DFO Bhaderwah and EO MC Doda shall compile, get approval and upload the updated District Environment Plan 2023-23 by the 2nd June.

The Committee reviewed in detail the implementation of the directions issued in previous meetings. It was informed that the stakeholders have submitted the annual plan in accordance with the revised guidelines of National Green Tribunal.

The DC ordered for launching plantation drive in Municipal areas, on the downhill sides of the roads and in all the educational institutions of the district on the 5th June, the International day of Forests. He asked to encourage the school children to bring plastic waste from their homes   for recycling at designated locations. He asked for holding pledge ceremonies, against use of plastic and protection of Environment, on International Forests Day.

The CMO informed that ETPs at Bhadarwah and Gandoh have been made functional while ETP for Thathri is held up for want of suitable land.

The Forest Division Doda informed about the plantation being done under various schemes and said that as many as 2.86 lac plants have been planted in the Division.

The EOs of all the MCs were directed not to give building permission until the rain water harvesting mechanism is put in place in the upcoming buildings.

ACD and ACP informed that 112 Waste Segregation Sheds in rural areas as Swachhta Banks have been established in the district to receive plastic, polythene and SUP against cash as a motivating factor for volunteers who wish to collect the solid waste in villages.

It was informed that Amrit Sarovers have been constructed in all the panchayats except in 60 panchayats where land for the same is to be identified. DC has directed to opt for State land, or Kacharie land for Amrit Sarovars in the remaining panchayats.

The District Mineral Officer informed that the annual audit of leased out mineral blocks have been conducted and submitted for compilation.

All the stakeholders were directed to carry out extensive awareness and enforcement campaigns for the protection and conservation of the environment.

The meeting was attended by the ADC Doda, SE PWD, ACD, ACP, DFO Bhaderwah, CEO BDA, DMO Doda, DIO Doda, ARTO Doda, DO PCC Ex En PDD, EOs of MC Doda, Bhaderwah and Thathri and other concerned officials.

EO MCs and other DFOs attended the meeting through virtual mode.
