PULWAMA: In a significant step towards fostering economic independence, the District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC) Pulwama today distributed 13 small commercial vehicles (CVs) and 01 Passenger Vehicle among the beneficiaries under the Mumkin scheme at the District Administrative Complex Pulwama.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom in the presence of SSP Pulwama, Yousuf Chaudhary; AD Employment, Hafsa Qayoom and Lead District Manager.
The DC handed over the keys to the beneficiaries, marking a pivotal moment in the efforts to provide sustainable livelihoods to unemployed youth in the transport sector.
The Mumkin scheme, part of the Mission Youth programme, is designed to empower unemployed youth in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Under this initiative, small commercial vehicles are provided with a 20 percent subsidy on the on-road price, jointly funded by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Vehicle Manufacturers.
Till date, 266 cases have been approved under the Mumkin Scheme in the Pulwama district. The distribution of 143 small commercial vehicles on various occasions has already made a positive impact on the lives of beneficiaries, enabling them to establish themselves in the transport sector and earn livelihood.
The concerted efforts of the District Administration as exemplified by the proactive approach in Mumkin scheme, underscore a commitment to shaping Pulwama into a hub of economic opportunity and prosperity. This initiative is a testament to the Government’s dedication to holistic development, where employment generation stands at the forefront of its transformative vision.
