Doda witnesses impressive launch of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign

Over 1000 participants pay homage to Martyrs, felicitate their families at Gatha Park Bhaderwah

DODA: As conveyed by the Government of India and UT administration, Independence Day 2023 shall be celebrated with special attribution to the freedom fighters, and martyrs who made their supreme sacrifice for the nation.

Taking the cue, District Administration Doda has established Sila-Phalakam (Memorial Plaques) in every panchayat, MCs, and at important public places to honour local martyrs to foster the sense of patriotism and responsibility towards fundamental duties and remember the real heroes on the national festival.

Meanwhile, the families of Martyrs and Ex Servicemen were felicitated in Gatha Park Bhaderwah to mark the launch of  ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign.

Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan along with BDC Chairperson Bhaderwah Omi Chand, DDC Councillor, Thakur Yudhvir Singh, ADC Bhaderwah Chowdhary Dil Mir and other district officers paid homage to the martyrs at Lake View Resort Gatha Park.

More than 1000 enthusiastic participants, including PRIs, Youth, Elderly, Women, Men and Children, participated in the Sila-Palakam at the venue. The excited participants in a festive atmosphere took the Panch Prana Pledge administered by the Deputy Commissioner.

Vasudha Vandan- a Plantation drive was also launched by the DC and others. The drive was facilitated by DFO Bhaderwah Chander Shekhar. Besides, a glamorous Maati Yatra was taken in the park led by DC Doda and others.

The DC, while briefing on the Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign, said that it aims to  make people realise their duties and motivate them to value freedom while remembering the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and martyrs for the country. He informed that similar programmes shall be held at each panchayat and municipalities where local heroes (Martyrs) will be remembered by erecting memorial plaques inscribed with their names. He also informed about the Maati Yatra and other important events scheduled under Meri maati Mera Desh. He urged the people, especially youth to participate with pride in the campaign and take the ‘Panch Prana’  Pledge for the coming 25 years of Amrit Kaal and for raising India, our motherland to its highest place and making India a Vishva Guru.
