Doda: DEC meeting discusses Environment Conservation Plan

DC calls for launching extensive awareness, enforcement campaign 

DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District Environmental Committee (DEC) and discussed in detail the Environment Conservation Plan for further submission to the concerned authorities for its approval.

The Committee reviewed in detail the implementation of the directions issued in previous meetings. It was informed that the stakeholders have submitted the annual plan in accordance with the revised guidelines of National Green Tribunals.

The CMO informed that site plans for ETPs at Bhadarwah and Gandoh have been prepared and submitted to XEN MED Div Doda for its final nod.

The DFO Doda informed about the plantation being done under various schemes and said that as many as 2.50 lac plants have been planted.

EO MCs Doda, Bhadarwah and Thathri were directed to identify the sites for disposal of construction waste.

The Divisional Officer Pollution Control Committee was directed to issue notices and take strict action against the contractors, crusher owners and other construction agencies for throwing waste in water bodies.

The DC directed ACD and ACP to notify the recently constructed waste Segregation sheds in rural areas as Swachhta Banks to receive plastic, polythenes and SUP against cash as a motivating factor for volunteers who wish to collect the solid waste in villages.

ACD Doda was directed to construct new and rejuvenate all water bodies in the district. It was decided that Amrit Sarovers would be developed in all villages as per the latest directions of the Government.

The DC directed the Chief Education Officer to pass directions to all schools to motivate students to bring  plastic waste and polythene refuse in schools where it can be taken for safe disposal.

The District Mineral Officer was directed to get the leased out mineral blocks audited annually and submit a report of each block before the DEC in the next meeting.

All the stakeholders were directed to carry out extensive awareness and enforcement campaigns for the protection and conservation of the environment.

The meeting was attended by the SSP Doda, ADDC, ADC Doda, SE PWD, SE PHE, ACD, ACP, DFO, CEO DO PCC. EO MCs and other DFOs attended the meeting through virtual mode.
