DM Jammu Sachin Kumar Vaishya chairs Weekly Block Diwas meeting at Chakroi

JAMMU: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya today led the Block Diwas meeting at Suchetgarh’s Chakroi. He was accompanied by DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony and senior officers.

The occasion brought to light significant community concerns, covering a range of vital issues. Highlighted matters included the maintenance of irrigation canals and ensuring a steady water supply, tackling encroachment problems and addressing public challenges arising from Jal Jeevan Mission projects.

The Emergency medical provisions, particularly for snake bites, took precedence, along with issues related to the functioning of the Revenue Department and the delivery of welfare schemes.

Concerns of the refugee population, road and nallah conditions and a request for a fire tender vehicle were also discussed during the event.

DDC Member Taranjit Singh Tony expressed gratitude for recent developments and urged the initiation of cash crops and medicinal nursery projects in the region. He commended the progress in tourism, especially around the Gharana Wetland and extended thanks for the ongoing bunker works.

District Magistrate Vaishya inquired about the quality and status of bunker development, emphasising their significance. He noted and acknowledged all highlighted issues, particularly those related to irrigation canals and farming. The DM encouraged public participation, stating that Block Diwas is an open forum for grievances, which are duly noted and prioritised for resolution. He praised farmers for their role in ensuring national food security and encouraged the adoption of best farming practices.

Senior officers, including ADDC Sher Singh, Chief Medical Officer Dr Harbaksh Singh, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh and SDM Seema Parihar, besides other district officers were present at the event.

Post-chairing Block Diwas, the District Magistrate undertook an extensive tour of the block. Notably, he visited Gharana Wetland to interact with locals who promptly presented their concerns. He further progressed to Bulleychak village where he attentively listened to residents’ grievances.
